Elizabeth City, NC and Oslo, Norway – October 24, 2025. Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) has selected TIND Institutional Repository (TIND IR) to replace its previous homegrown consortial platform, joining a growing number of North Carolina institutions migrating to TIND. With TIND IR, ECSU will implement a modern, fully hosted repository that combines an intuitive discovery interface with powerful workflow and metadata management tools.
Previously hosted in a shared system with limited flexibility, ECSU sought a repository that could be customized to their specific needs and integrated with their Summon discovery layer.
TIND IR is a highly configurable, hosted solution. TIND’s dedicated implementation team will work closely with ECSU to tailor repository workflows, metadata structures, and user experience to their requirements, delivering a bespoke, scalable platform that meets both institutional and user needs.
The new system will make it easier for students and faculty to find, view, and share scholarly works through advanced search, collection-based browsing, and built-in citation and viewing tools. At the same time, librarians gain greater control over metadata, submissions, and access permissions, improving both efficiency and data quality.
TIND IR supports customizable self-deposit and submission review workflows, embargo management, access restrictions, and flexible metadata tools for batch editing and schema customization.
“TIND IR is a great fit for institutions of all sizes,” said Alexander Nietzold, CEO of TIND. “Elizabeth City State University’s adoption shows how smaller institutions can benefit from a scalable, sustainable repository that combines a strong user experience with efficient metadata management and long-term preservation.”
The repository will serve as a dedicated home for student and faculty publications, theses, and other scholarly output. It will launch with approximately 500 records, expanding steadily as new materials are added.
