Berkeley, CA and Oslo, Norway – September 21, 2018. The University of California, Berkeley has selected the TIND Digital Archive (TIND DA) to manage its extensive digital collections. TIND DA will allow UC Berkeley to migrate the many existing digital collections from various sources and systems, as well as providing workflows for contributing newly digitized and converted material into one central location.
UC Berkeley evaluated several products against a list of technical and functional requirements and decided on the implementation of TIND DA for its ability to meet all the requirements and be implemented quickly with low operational costs.
The TIND DA will provide a complete solution for storing, organizing, finding, retrieving, preserving and sharing digital files. The system will make it easier for users to search and browse across digital collections from UC Berkeley’s various libraries and collections.
Furthermore, the TIND DA will be integrated with UC Berkeley’s IT infrastructure and local object storage, allowing for local hosting of files, thus optimizing storage costs. In total, over 100 TB and millions of files are expected to be managed, preserved and disseminated with the TIND Digital Archive. At the same time, the TIND DA’s flexibility and scalability will also accommodate the continuous and rapid growth in UC Berkeley’s ongoing digitization projects.
