Santa Cruz, CA and Oslo, Norway - October 29, 2020. TIND, a spin off from CERN specializing in library software solutions, today announced that industry leader Kari Paulson has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer and member of the board.
Ms Paulson has been a consistent innovator in academic library technology. She was responsible for building EBL (Ebook Library) into one of the first ebook platforms for academic libraries and brought to market a number of significant innovations and industry-changing technologies, including demand-driven acquisition. Based in Perth, Australia, EBL became one of the leading global suppliers of ebooks to academic libraries under Ms Paulson’s leadership. EBL was acquired by ProQuest in 2013.
“I have followed the impressive growth of TIND and have long been a fan of the company’s innovation, product quality and thoughtful approach to technology,” Paulson said. "At a time when the industry is experiencing an increasing level of consolidation amongst vendors and products, there’s a real risk that innovation will slow and customer choice will become limited. As we’ve seen time and time again, new companies and products are the lifeblood in a vibrant industry, offering fresh ideas and healthy competition.”
“I am delighted to be joining TIND at this exciting phase in the company’s growth and look forward to working with such a talented and customer-focused team to deliver products and services that delight our library partners.”
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Paulson will be responsible for scaling global operations and customer experience as the company continues to expand. Paulson’s appointment comes at a time of accelerated growth for TIND, which has recently added new library partners such as UC Berkeley, Columbia Law School, Colorado College, Mills College and Skidmore College.
“We are delighted that Kari has agreed to join the TIND team,” Alexander Nietzold, TIND CEO, said. “She has been a true thought leader in the library technology industry and brings a wealth of industry knowledge and product experience, as well as a proven track record of growing a company from start-up to market leader.”
