University of Georgia Implements TIND IR and TIND RDM

Released May 19, 2025

Athens, GA and Oslo, Norway - May 19, 2025. The University of Georgia (UGA) has implemented TIND Institutional Repository (IR) and TIND Research Data Management (RDM), migrating over 26,000 scholarly publications, creative works and research data from ExLibris Esploro. The new repository will serve as a central hub for faculty and student researchers to share and preserve a wide range of scholarly materials and datasets.

UGA Open Scholar is the digital repository for public-facing scholarly outputs at the University of Georgia, including journal articles, preprints, theses, datasets, and supporting documentation. The repository supports both open access publishing and compliance with data-sharing mandates from funders and institutions.

“The UGA Libraries are excited to launch UGA Open Scholar as our new institutional and research data repository running on TIND IR and TIND RDM,” said Beth Woods, Director of Research and Computational Data Management at UGA. “We are currently operating a soft launch, working with a small group of faculty researchers to conduct end-user testing.”

During setup, the goal was to ensure the system was both flexible and user-friendly, making it easy for researchers to adopt and benefit from the platform without facing barriers during submission.

“The TIND project team was instrumental in helping us think through the available options and strike the right balance, and we’re already hearing positive feedback from our users.
Researchers like the ability to connect their publications and data sets to related resources during the submission process, and they can already see the value in developing a network of publications that lead back to their data.”

By combining IR and RDM on a single platform, UGA enables researchers to seamlessly link datasets and publications during submission, enhancing discoverability and long-term access.
