UNC Greensboro goes live with TIND Digital Archive and TIND Institutional Repository

Released November 07, 2025

Greensboro, NC, and Oslo, Norway – November 7, 2025. The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) has launched Digital Greensboro, a unified platform bringing together the university’s digital collections and institutional repository. Powered by TIND Digital Archive (TIND DA) and TIND Institutional Repository (TIND IR), the new system replaces UNCG’s legacy Islandora-based and homegrown platforms and provides seamless access to the university’s scholarly, cultural, and historical content through a single portal.

For more than a decade, UNCG has maintained two separate repositories: NC DOCKS, focused on scholarship and theses, and Gateway, home to the university’s digital special collections. Both have been central to UNCG’s commitment to open access, preservation, and public engagement. As these systems aged and infrastructure demands grew, the Libraries sought a sustainable, scalable, externally hosted solution that could unite both services under one brand and platform.

"UNCG and its community partners are excited to launch Digital Greensboro using the TIND Digital Archive and TIND Institutional Repository platforms,” said David Gwynn, Digitization Coordinator and Associate Professor at UNCG. “We're very pleased with the great user interface, the ease of administration, and the level of support from the implementation team. The TIND platform will allow us to focus on content rather than mechanics, which is a major benefit in a period of decreasing resources. The new site looks great and we're thrilled to introduce it to the community!"

The TIND platform enables users to search, view, and engage with materials from across disciplines and formats. Its clean, responsive interface allows users to discover everything from historic photographs and manuscripts to faculty publications and theses, all within one cohesive experience.

“By combining the Institutional Repository and Digital Archive into one unified system, UNCG is setting an example of how libraries can modernize infrastructure while maintaining strong local identity and access,” said Alexander Nietzold, CEO of TIND. “This partnership showcases how TIND’s modular architecture can scale with institutions as they evolve toward fully integrated digital ecosystems.”
