Lincoln, NE and Oslo, Norway – January 24, 2025. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) has successfully gone live on TIND RDM with its new research data repository, SANDY: Stewarding Nebraska Data. Previously relying on ExLibris’ Rosetta to manage datasets, UNL sought a more modern solution to support the growth and accessibility of its data collections for years to come. By adopting TIND RDM, UNL gains a flexible, state-of-the-art platform designed to streamline data curation, enhance accessibility, and ensure compliance with evolving federal research data-sharing requirements.

The launch of SANDY represents a significant upgrade to UNL’s research data infrastructure. Powered by TIND RDM, the repository supports FAIR data principles, ensuring that research outputs are well-curated and impactful. With features like customizable submission workflows, persistent identifiers such as DOIs, and built-in metrics for tracking dataset usage, TIND RDM enables researchers to manage and share their data efficiently across disciplines—including agriculture, engineering, and the natural sciences.
“TIND RDM provides the tools we need to ensure that research data is not only well-curated but also accessible and impactful,” said Scout Calvert, Associate Professor and Chair of the Libraries’ Research Partnerships Unit. “The platform allows us to support FAIR principles more effectively while helping researchers meet federal funding requirements with ease.”
The University Libraries have long been leaders in research data stewardship at UNL, and the launch of SANDY highlights their ongoing commitment to steward Nebraska data, promote the FAIR and CARE principles, and make data open. “This upgrade to a world-class research data repository infrastructure demonstrates our dedication to advancing the work of our researchers and ensuring their data can reach its full potential,” said Liz Lorang, Dean of Libraries.
TIND CEO Alexander Nietzold said of the partnership: “We are proud to support the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with TIND RDM. SANDY exemplifies how a sophisticated data management platform can transform research workflows and promote open science.”
