Evansville, IN, Oslo, Norway, Ipswich, MA. - January 28, 2021. [TIND](https://tind.io/) and [EBSCO Information Services](https://www.ebsco.com/) (EBSCO) announce that the [University of Southern Indiana](https://www.usi.edu/library/) (USI) has selected the TIND Integrated Library System (TIND ILS), migrating from Ex Libris’ Voyager system and will also transition its Primo discovery layer to EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS). The university will be able to use EDS with TIND ILS for real-time holdings information and integrate with [GOBI](https://www.ebsco.com/products/gobi-library-solutions) and Harrassowitz, leveraging the TIND ILS real-time acquisition APIs.

University of Southern Indiana Library Director Marna Hostetler says:

“We here at the University of Southern Indiana’s David L. Rice Library are extremely excited about moving to TIND ILS. TIND ILS will streamline many of our workflows, which will help in training new employees after a period of internal restructuring. In addition, TIND’s modern, innovative design will integrate with other systems, both within the library and on campus. We also look forward to working with EBSCO to implement EBSCO Discovery Service, enabling us to provide state-of-the-art discovery options for our university community.” 

TIND CEO Alexander Nietzold says that TIND is thrilled to have another U.S. academic institution select the TIND ILS:

“We continue to demonstrate that the TIND ILS is a real and fitting option for library management among small and medium-sized academic libraries. This segment needs library systems that are modern, streamlined and easy to use. We’re excited to continue to build out our ILS in partnership with the University of Southern Indiana! Furthermore, we see that the TIND ILS + EDS combo proves to be a particularly strong and open alternative to the Alma + Primo bundle.”

EBSCO Information Services Vice President SaaS Strategy Tamir Borensztajn says by providing libraries with APIs and supporting interoperability, EBSCO helps libraries better integrate the systems they select:

“The ILS is completely changing to accommodate modern needs and technologies. Above all, libraries must have the control to have bi-directional interoperability across the ILS and any related tools/systems as they see appropriate. TIND allows for this open interoperability, which provides choice, and doesn’t lock a given library into larger bundled costs. This emerging approach, exemplified by the University of Southern Indiana’s decision to integrate EDS with its TIND ILS, is a great example of how choice allows libraries to select the best service for their research needs.”
